and the first ever achieved via its North Ridge—CIGA design honors that history with Everest China, its first automaton watch.
The "human ladder" forged by the climbers at the Second Step is recreated in miniature through CNC micro-engraving
and brought to life by the self-developed CD-10 caliber. Set within a Grade 5 Titanium case, the scene unfolds on a dial carved from genuine
Everest bedrock, alongside a 65th Anniversary relief and ice-axe-inspired hands, both luminous in Swiss Super-LumiNova®.
Liu Lianman's words, as enduring as his deeds, are quietly inscribed on the caseback. The historic climbing route, embossed on the fluororubber
strap, forges a bond with all who push forward with unrelenting resolve.
On May 25, 1960, three members of the Chinese Expedition Team stood atop Everest, the first of their nation to do so.
The day before, the path had turned impassable at the Second Step, a near-vertical wall of ice and rock at 8,700 to 8,750 meters.
There, Liu Lianman offered his own shoulders as a foothold, lifting his teammates toward the summit he would not reach himself.
